(image: Norcem, HeidelbergCement)<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>West Welding has signed a contract with Norway\u2019s Aker Solutions for the delivery of waste heat recovery units as part of a carbon capture storage (CCS) project in Brevik, in southern Norway. <strong>The deliveries are part of the world\u2019s first industrial-scale CCS plant at a cement plant<\/strong>, which is being delivered by Aker Carbon Capture. The final customer is Europe\u2019s largest cement producer, Germany\u2019s HeidelbergCement.<\/h4>\n<p>The project aims at significantly reducing the CO<sup>2<\/sup> emissions at HeidelbergCement\u2019s Norcem cement production plant. The plant is one of the largest CO<sup>2<\/sup> emission points in Norway and <strong>the new investment will cut the annual emissions of the plant by about 400,000 tonnes CO2 \u2013 or nearly 1 percent of all of Norway\u2019s total emissions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The scale of the investment is significant to West Welding, and the contract is one of the biggest single contracts in the company\u2019s history. West Welding\u2019s Project Director <em>Panu Perasto<\/em> commented on the contract news:<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt is great to see this project moving forward. We want to thank Aker Solutions and Aker Carbon Capture for their trust to extend our long collaboration with this innovative project.
